This is a reconstructed replica of Avery’s Architectural Model of His Apartment Building in Warsaw, Poland. With drawings and measurements supplied by Emilia Gierczak, curator of the Pawel Avorsky Museum, Warsaw, I constructed the replica model of the apartment in maple plywood to scale. The replica deviates from the original in that it has cut-away views into Avery’s apartment, and his secret darkroom, which includes items found by the Polish Secret Police. I installed a digital monitor inside the model that plays the Super 8mm film found by the Polish Authorities. The film was shot by Avery, and it is thoroughly described, the use of a large 10 X 12 foot re-printed photograph that Avery created in his darkroom, as well as directional notes about camera movement that focused on different parts of the image. There is a mirrored portion of the film, which has yet to be explained, considering the technology that Avery had at his disposoal The Original model is in the collection of objects and artifacts at The Pavel Avorsky Museum, Warsaw.
